The long-awaited new My SYNLAB is ready!
The new modern website combines SYNLAB's e-shop for private customers, self-service, and a homepage - everything our customers need in a digital environment. Grete Kikas, the development manager of SYNLAB's customer service department, and Egle Puppart, the IT project manager, talk about the birth story of the new website.
The need to create a new portal emerged from our customers' and colleagues' feedback. The project started in January 2021, when we kicked off requirement collection workshops at SYNLAB. Grete Kikas explains: "The purpose of the workshops was to map the wishes and needs of different departments and customers. We held seven workshops where all employees could have a say in existing and new functionalities. On the other hand, our customers were asked to give feedback to the existing patient portal through a customer survey."
During the workshops, we gathered many ideas and requirements regarding the possibilities of the new web. As a result, our customers see a renewed design and enjoy more convenient navigation. " If in the previous portal the customer had to do a lot of preliminary work when choosing a health panel, then in the new Minu SYNLAB the services are more clearly categorised, and comparing health panels is easier. The ability to see which tests are included in the different panels makes it easier to choose the appropriate health check-up," points out Egle Puppart.
In addition, the results are displayed interactively in a more user-oriented way. We have created step-by-step instructions for giving different sample materials and trilingual functionality throughout the website and improved the search. The descriptions of health checks and other services have been updated and have a new structure in cooperation with laboratory doctors, so important information is available effortlessly and conveniently.
However, the work certainly does not end there: "The focus of the following developments is on the e-store solution, which helps to choose the services that suit you more easily. In addition, we want to make video consultations available," says Grete Kikas and adds: "We are working on the ability to give customers personalised recommendations based on their results."
In the new Minu SYNLAB, it is possible to order health checks for your loved ones and purchase gift cards. Services with home sampling kits are under the "Test yourself" service. If you want to order a sampling team at home for yourself or a loved one, you can use our "Sampling at home" service. Anonymous ordering of tests has also been preserved.
According to Egle Puppart, the Minu SYNLAB renewal project was exciting because we had development partners from Denmark, Germany, the Philippines, Hungary, and Estonia. "We cooperated with a total of 10 partners and around 40 people were constantly involved, who were responsible for the development of various project modules. Grete and I had to ensure that all these modules form a whole." Although there were many parties, each played a crucial role in making the new portal more user-friendly for both the client and SYNLAB staff.
Interesting facts about the project:
• We started a new website project in Estonia, but soon it developed into the foundation of the entire SYNLAB Group's private client sector website.
• About 650 meetings/workshops have taken place and 13,000 cups of coffee have been drunk during the project.
• 16 project managers from around the world were involved in the project.
• Web service design was a nominated project at the Estonian Design Awards 2022 in cooperation with Velvet.
• When the project goes LIVE, we would like to introduce the initial version of machine learning algorithms to private clients - personal recommendations based on a lifestyle questionnaire and laboratory results.
We hope you and all our customers enjoy the updated Minu SYNLAB!
